Un-Perfect Pictures

So after reading Erin Ellsworths blog the other day and seeing the cute photo's she took of her adorable kids, I decided I'd attempt another try at getting some shots of my kids.  About a hundred pictures later and even some tears, I put the camera away frustrated that I wasn't getting the "perfect pose" so to say.
However, after looking over the pictures I felt horrible for all the times I kept saying "just smile and we'll be all done", or "stop crying and smile".  There were actually way more "good" one's than I thought, not because they were looking right at me and smiling without moving, but because they show their real personality's. I realized that, the "un-perfect" pictures are what I'll love the most when they're all grown up and gone.  They are the pictures that I'll smile at and shed tears over, the one's that catch the perfect them.

These are some of my favorites

Kennedy was feeling a little sick and she was so tired.  She mostly had pretty solemn shots.  The only one's that weren't I had to pretend like I was punching my-self and falling over to get her to laugh.  Then I had to hurry and focus to take the picture.  Whatever works right?

Cortnie,

Don't be so hard on yourself. You are right, the imperfection is what makes them great.

I am actually reading a self help type of book called "Photographing Children". I will lend it to you when I am done if you want. It's pretty easy reading and has some fun tips that I have tried out. See my photography blog...on baby parts.

Anyway, I love the one of the three of them giggling. So perfectly them!

They turned out beautiful!!! All of them. All photographers think that their pictures don't turn out how they want them to. I absolutely LOVE them.

Also, on a long shot...would you like to get together while I'm up in Idaho? You are still in Idaho, right? I'll be there most of May and would love to catch up with you.
